Deciding to Travel The World

A few months ago I read an article online about a 20-something girl dropping everything and traveling the world. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but over the next few weeks that article and these “what if” thoughts kept popping into my head. “What if I sold all of my possessions,” “what if I quit my job,” “what if I bought a one-way ticket across the world…” And that is exactly what I have done.
Let me rewind a bit and say that 2015 was a rough one. I lost my grandmother after watching her battle it out with cancer like a boss and being by her side through her illness, especially for the past four years. I broke up with my boyfriend of 3.5 years just a few weeks before reading that article. I was (am, as of writing this) in a career field that I love but in an extremely demanding job I was about ready to move on from.
Six months ago, when my grandma was still alive, I was still in a serious relationship, and I had to focus on developing my career, I never would have dreamt of doing something like this. After experiencing those losses though, I knew I was ready to make some serious changes in my life. I did some research and really let the idea of dropping everything and becoming a full-time adventurer seep into my mind.
I had always wanted to travel, but thought I had to be extremely wealthy to be able to do so. I started learning about full-time budget travel, and I realized this was absolutely an attainable goal for me! My “what if” statements shifted to “I will” and “I can.” So here we go. This is just the beginning and I am so excited to share my adventures with you!
